Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Selection Time

So, 13,000 positions, 5 working days to shortlist and 10 working days to select. They’ll need to shortlist 2,600 positions per day to reach the selection event. During selection, they’ll need to fill 1,300 positions per day. The selection teams are enormous. The number of applicants to each position will be high. Everyone is working virtually. What could possibly go wrong?

Naive amateurs...the selections are already made. These meetings is to go over them and MAYBE adjust a couple. If you are getting a cold shoulder now you know where this is going.

Most incumbents will post for and stay in their current positions. If you’re a low performer or have p-ss-d off a supervisor in the last year or two, or are on the HR blacklist, or you are over 55 and near 100% of your PSG CO, you are definitely toast. There’s no hope for you.

“Trust the process” they say. If the process was trustworthy then this wouldn’t be my fifth process.

They have already decided who and how many will be left standing, not much movement (if any) of individual contributors in this round.

The key is 4 job posting, not everyone will be applying for jobs beyond the function, there will be lot of overlap on jobs within the same function and some filtering because of PSG range and some EOI.

Nonetheless, the task is huge, but they are breaking it into different teams and functions, additionally it is very limited appetite to bri g people from outside BU unless they are must move, so again there are many hidden filters within the process that enables managing the process within the timeline.

Chill out. The process may not be perfect but have confidence things will be okay. There may be a couple of hiccups here and there, but at the end of it things will workout. Relax and have a beer or two, after work hours.
