And now they take away the only retirement benefit left. The emails went out today from HR. If you started before 2003 and are not retirement eligible before 12/31/2020 you don't get the retiree medical discount. What a sh–ty thing to do.

I'm frankly surprised they haven't dumped the retiree medical completely. I retired several years ago. Trust me the retiree medical aint that great its expensive even with subsidy. Over $500 a month per person plus you have the deductibles and out of pocket.
So if I started before 2003 and AM retirement eligible (even though I'm not retiring yet), I WILL get the medical subsidy?
I am 59 with 36 years and high pay and fully expected to get laid off and didn’t.. the numbers in my office were mixed with regard to layoffs.
Hah! @2roo+17dLMOnd you are drinking the koolaid. The largest group of people being laid off are aged 50-65. The #s you are seeing are highly manipulated. They group by location and dates as they see fit in order to slide under the radar on age discrimination. Allstate lies...about everything.
@2hzq+17dLMOnd maybe in your area it looks like those laid off were all older and close to retirement, if you look at the data that shows tenure and age with the company those that were laid off were even across the board as far as age and tenure, some areas took bigger hits in some areas while others didn't.
It's sad to think anyone on this post thinks they will ACTUALLY get to retire with Allstate. The majority of the employees reduction in force was long tenure and salaries. Up until GS appeared on the scene I had intentions of retiring from Allstate. That was take away last month. I will be surprised if there are anymore retirement opportunities
They have taken away all incentives
State Farm grandfathered it years ago.
Allstate has cut the retirement benefits so many times I most likely won't get it when I retire - and I can retire.
@lmond, same here. I assumed long ago. It's all coming to fruition. That projected pension lump sum, grandiose, is 60% less. Still painful all of it
I joined in '99 and am eligible but have never in 21 years expected that I'd ANY benefits by the time I retire. I still don't. That Allstate's hung on with the bene as long as they have is surprising, especially considering nearly every other large company abandoned the idea years ago. Keep up with what's happening outside your own company and you'll get a fair comparison. I couldn't name any company with robust retirement benefits now.
Yep! Ughhh. What next???
