Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Seriously

Has anyone ever worked for a company that has a more toxic work environment, lower employee moral, fear of job loss, less confidence in executives & upper management than Union Pacific. I doubt there is a company that deserves the title of "Worst company to work for " more than Union Pacific.

Some on here have suggested that people should just quit. I say no you shouldn’t. It’s classic corporate bullying of the elderly and people that have health conditions. A 60 year old can’t move like a 30 year old. And they want to push older people out. No, you served honorably for years and shouldn’t be pushed out because you got old. You gave the best years of your life and should be allowed to make it to retirement age.

No! People should not quit unless they want to for there own reasons. Not because a corporation is making it hard on older people or those with a health condition. The labor movement did not fight these battles just to let companies scare people off.

I think some people are preparing to quit. Others are riding it out but won’t be surprised if they get fired or laid off. Some have already quit. There is nothing wrong with pointing out the bad ways of management. I’m in the riding it out camp. I’ve got my eyes open for other work. I’m not miserable because I am prepared to move on and I will let it all roll off. If they say tomorrow we don’t accept your doctors note and your in a level, ok. Whatever. We have to live life.

Sure. But if someone is saying Walmart treated them better why stay where you’re unhappy. If you’re so miserable leave I’m sure someone would love to come back to work here.

That someone doesn’t go back to working at Walmart does not negate the statement that UP is poorly managed.

If you did work at Walmart why did you leave? Why don’t you go back.

Truth. And it was all completely avoidable.

There’s a reason it was ranked the worst company in America...because it is.

This post would seem like bad blood if I wasn’t witnessing it with my own eyes. It really is a horribly managed company. And the way people are being stressed isn’t necessary.

Seriously, firing all non union managers is your idea to fix this company? The managers don’t like what’s going on any more than you. They, particularly the transportation managers, have always worked ridiculous hours, but now even more so. Nobody under the exec level should feel safe. Everyone is at risk of losing their jobs. Regardless of how you feel about your managers, we all are being treated equally bad. I sympathize with all UP employees. I hate what’s happening to many fine people. Hoping one group will be let go will not make the situation any better.
