Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Layoff tip: be proactive and apply

  • your org or department is not conducting performance reviews, that's an indicator that layoffs are coming.

Brush up your resumes and apply to other companies immediately.

You are more marketable when employed than unemployed.

Good luck

I wanted to get laid off, so I put it in my performance plan. Sure nuff, they honored my wish. Colleagues of mine also wanted layoff and didn't get it (we were in the 64 year old range - so this isn't just a factitious post - when you're close to Medicare, layoff, severance and COBRA are a good deal). Seriously, try to get laid off if you can afford to. And Oracle was a great place to work, at least during my time there.

Only old people with database and Exadata skills left here and no one wants people with those skills! We also love the laid back culture! We have to work hard if we go somewhere else.

Sadly, there is nobody left at oracle who is capable of following your advice. If we were able we would have left long ago. The only people left here are hangers-on and losers like me. None of us have the marketable skills needed to get in line for the escape hatch, so we will just keep leaching until the axe comes down.
