Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Protect yourself and be curious!

I wish the American workforce was smarter and learned to look after themselves and their families. A company’s actions internally are a bullhorn if you are smart enough to pay attention! In Allstate’s case, the day they announced the change in the payroll processing was the day you had your answer! That was over 2 years ago. They knew once they rolled out the reduction in force they would be screwed by the old process! Prior, we got paid in advance of the week and the shift to paying post week protected them from over paying and not being able to get the money back once someone resigned or was termed. That was your first warning sign! That’s when I started looking. I dedicated over a decade to the company and did not want to leave-but I saw it coming and warned others. No one listened! The second warning was the arbitration agreement! Hello, anybody home! The third warning was following insurance industry trends and following Insurtech news! The consumer is dictating these changes and the company needed to react fast or they would fail! American workers-please learn to read and be intellectually curious about your industry and the company you work for, otherwise you will end up like 3800 employees at Allstate that were blindsided and sit in the land of uncertainty! The time to leave was 2 years ago when it was a candidate’s market without the added stress of Covid and hiring freezes.

Agreed. Shapiro and that CI horses*** was when my alarm went off. It's been a drop off the cliff since that moment.

The day they announced CI, I said to the people around me. This is the beginning of the end. Our MCO moved, there were “just enough” desks, benefits changed, pto and holidays changed. I saw it coming four years ago.

The bullhorn sounded many years back when Allstate broke into Northern Ireland IT market.

Please believe nothing that they say if you want to see the direction of Allstate, focus on their actions. This advice is given from someone that works closely with the strategy team.

From Good Hands to Boxing Gloves: The Dark Side of Insurance
Revelations from this book named above from 2008 review and discuss Allstate and recommendations from the McKinsey & Company firm. Was this the beginning of the end???

I was hired in 1996 as part of the "CCPR" implementation, "claim core process redesign" 20 years prior experience with auto collision damage repair was what allstate was looking for at the time. I could see very soon afterward that Allstate leadership was heading in the wrong direction. The beginning mentality towards claim settlement was customer satisfaction, fair and honest, I was told by my leadership don't underpay claims and don't overpay claims. This changed so drastically over the decades which lead me to quit this year, I was struggling with the need to settle claims unfairly, lie to and cheat consumers to succeed. Top heavy leadership, bi-polar decisions, corporate mentality focused on stockholders vs the customer. I can see the reasons if you solely are a corporate goon, but at the expense of your customers is morally bankrupt. Glad to be out of the insanity.
