Safety: Hovering the handrail because of covid concerns or holding as a best practice

Anyone have any thoughts on this? My manager asked me back to campus this week despite my concerns with coming in contact with nearly 3k people. Wasn't holding the handrail on the stairs and was called out by another employee. Do you think it's justified not to hold the handrail due to potential virus particles. This would effectively be like shaking several hands, which is against the EM covid best practices.

Wear disposable gloves. They're not that expensive.

I always hovered. Even before the virus it seems disgusting to run your hand down a rail after so many others. Elevator buttons are gross too.

I’ve been on campus on and off since June and have been hovering the whole time.

What part of "actively looking for new jobs" did you not understand? The reason I'm looking for new jobs is for all of the reasons you just mentioned. We're on the same page - this place is a joke. Was just addressing the "low performer" comment because most brainwashed people at EM think the only people that don't like it are those who are ranked poorly, when in reality, that is not true whatsoever

The funniest thing is driving behind a manager at 15 MPH leaving the Spring campus and then watching him floor it and drive like a nut as soon as soon as he gets out on the street. Hypocrite. The reality is the company doesn’t really care if you die of COVID but does care a lot if you have a recordable injury from the stairs. The care is not for your welfare but the impact it might have on your manager’s cash bonus for the year.

You're concerned with coming back into a relatively safe office?

Unless vast majority of coworkers are getting sick daily (they are not), you are just brainwashed about covid-19 being as deadly as it is.

HOLD THE HANDRAIL!!

(Nevermind the chances of getting a disease that could k–l or incapacitate you or lead you to infect vulnerable people you might be in contact all of those chances orders of magnitude greater than the chance you trip and fall on the stairs).

GET BACK TO THE OFFICE AND HOLD THE HANDRAIL BECAUSE NOBODY GETS HURT

ExxonMobil employees have their preferences right on the money. Glad to see that the main concern in the organization is whether someone is holding the handrail or not.

Great going Darren
