You also have to understand that pre uverse fiber backhaul has government pricing oversight for all internet traffic. Any post uverse fiber is free of that oversight and price control. Opens up higher pricing to resale and wholesale of anything on the uverse network.
I might add that the original DSL used a billing system that bolted onto the telephone billing system, as opposed to Uverse which has its own billing system. The only reason I see for getting rid of original DSL is because copper telephone isn't far behind. Otherwise, they would let it continue to piggyback on copper telephone.
"DSL" sunset is in reference to the original atm based internet service that is last mile fed via copper, not to be confused with the newer packet based Uverse internet service which is last mile copper or fiber. The "new" 4 year project is an additional fiber overlay similar to the one recently completed to provide Uverse. Are we getting out of the DSL business? For new service yes. Does that mean we are getting out of the internet business? Nope.
“Give us more money we’ll do it for reals this time” lol
