Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Are calls pre-scheduled?

Meaning, if I don't have anything on my calendar I am safe?

1:1 Meeting was scheduled by Director on Friday to occur today at 9 am. Got "role at risk" information followed by HR email with options

If it’s up to the manager how to deliver the message, are they allowed to wait a couple days? Or does it all have to be wrapped up by today whether it’s a call, email, or one on one?

Some managers may schedule the day before and some may not. It's upto each manager-managee relationship. All email notification will be after the call I think. Atleast it was for me.

I didn't get on layoff.com until just now. I'm glad that I got a good night's sleep atleast, instead of tossing and turning in anticipation.

Not necessarily - some people I know got unexpected texts to call their managers on the day of the layoff while they were on PTO. Gone are the days where HR had strict rules about this. Now it's up to management and if they don't care, you can be getting a call without anything being scheduled the day before.

If you get a Mandatory webex meeting, expect the bad news (or good news if you wanted to leave anyway).

This time there won't be any calls prior to the emails. Managers were instructed not to make the calls.

My invite just appeared. West coast manager. Probably not good news.

Historically, the calls have been scheduled the day prior with some innocuous subject heading. However, they are not necessarily 1:1 calls – entire teams have been whacked via video conference with a manager reading a script – teams that were performing well.

Probably. My call was scheduled last night at the stroke of 4pm.
