Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Teleslaes

Two coworkers where offer the telesales position took what they were giving for the increase. One got dropped 5k and the other 7k from hourly. They do make almost twice in commission but still make 3k less after everything is said and done. The f up part is that if they want to go back to retail, they just forfeited their 5k and 7k increase. But if they stay in telesales, they can multiply and make more money at the end of the year. Pros and cons

@1pxe+17jiGq3D Lol @ telesales being "overall bad for your health". Wow, some people are delusional. His argument is sitting down for 8 hours is bad therefore telesales is bad. Hey genius, you can stand up if you want to. You can get a desk bike. I think talking to customers in the store who constantly take down their masks, don't wear them right, or argue about having to wear a mask is MUCH MORE hazardous to your health than telesales LOL. If you know how to adapt, which seasoned reps know how to do, you WILL make money and will be safer doing so. Period. Also, that dreaded 2-11 shift you guys keep hearing about isn't what 98% of people will be getting so don't worry.

I think theirs a price to pay either way you go. Some of this stores are extremely toxic with awfully management. Some stores have a real laid back attitude which is nice. Having said that I strongly believe that the retail stores are going to go to no commission but still hold reps and managers accountable. Their are express store all ready open from 10-8 this don't pay commission u can look for the position on the job search instead off ss they are call digital representatives you help them order all their equipment on digital screens. Is sad to say that they can't to start fresh with new blood and keep only the ones who are ok with no commission and have a great attitude about the change. Yes telesales in not a walk in the park but I strongly believe is going one of the only positions that pay commission outside of business.

@1uzo+17jiGq3D Yes and there are a lot more cons like sitting in a chair taking one call after another for 8 hours. The calls are not all that fun either and it’s not as easy to close the sale as many think. The other huge con is the schedule . I agree some get better shifts then others but that 2-11 pm shift is ridiculous. I would rather putter around the store play on my phone in between customers and go to the bathroom when I need to. It’s just overall bad for your health doing telesales but I agree not having to wear a mask is a plus even though that is mandatory maybe 1 more year tops.

Even if you come out even money going to telesales there are definitely more pros. No mask, no actual customer standing in your face, lots more selling and a whole lot less tech issues. You are working for yourself again and it’s always busy. If you are good at what you do you’ll make more money.

Telesales is the new wave. Retail is dying . Verizon does not care about retail. Soon enough retail will be all part timers and clerks and machines

Why does everyone assume that going into telesales you will automatically make your” at risk”? If you were a heavy hitter in a retail store and going to telesales it won’t be the same. I know several people who work in telesales and the past few months for them to even hit at risk they needed to put in overtime. What a great feeling it must be to find out you will drop down $2-$3 dollars per hour just taking the telesales job. Thanks but no thanks .

Yea when you go to telesales your hourly goes down however your at risk goes up to $1,250. Don’t ever think Verizon will keep your new raise and have higher risk . They want us not to make money
