Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Brutal truth about the incompetency of the ELT

It's time for the board of directors to do their jobs and remove the top execs. The company can't survive via constant layoffs. It needs new blood at the very top that can develop the company.

Face it, Cisco ELT is utterly incompetent and I question the ethics of the BOD for keeping them in charge.

I learn a lot from these posts, given Cisco is so vast. From a purely strategic marketing perspective (my world) Cisco has made many missteps. You don't need my core competencies to see the writing on the wall: since the CEO transition in 2016 Cisco has shaved off a lot of native knowledge and tried to infill with NICs or failed Senior Execs who know how to play a good spin. Wasn't it McKinsey who was paid 7 figures that started C's continuous / quarterly talent cull? That worked for awhile for the stock price and those who have RSUs, but... that was ST thinking. Where is Cisco now? I'll tell you: at the back of the line.

Yeah, I hate Capellas with a passion.

Now that I look at it, this definitely makes sense. I was at Compaq when Capellas executed this "Scorch Earth - Take the Money and Run" strategy. Now that I look at it, the playbook is almost identical. Do massive layoffs. Focus on SE, Sales, and Tac. Then dump the charred remains onto an unsuspecting CEO with ego problems. Capellas did just that when he dumped Compaq onto HP/Carly Fiorina. He collected a huge payday from that little fiasco. I am guessing Chuck is looking for an unsuspecting victim to unload this dumpster fire for a lot of cash.

If the buyer is Verizon, pray for those that didn't get the LR. I wouldn't wish Verizon on my worst enemy. Terrible employer.

Ah, this explains why sales and se where decimated. The buyer has their own sales force and does not want competition, nor headache of trying to retrain sales.

Oh, the ELT might not be as clueless as everyone thinks. Are they greedy? Yes! They actually do have a vision and a plan.

Microsoft have been in talks to buy Nokia (network, not the phone) to augment their Cloud portfolio.

The ELT saw this and are positioning Cisco to be sold to one of the major cloud providers (use your imagination here). To do this, they need to trim not just payroll but everything down to their bare bones. Not to mention find ways to ditch some of their lesser performing products and BUs.

This is exactly what Michael Capellas did to Worldcom back in 2006 right before he sold it to Verizon. Want to guess where he is now, which board of directors he sits on, and who Chuck is listening to?

The bottom line is the ELT wants a big payday and cash out. They are going to continue to aggressively trim the fat until Cisco becomes a viable take over target.

Chuck is a terrible CEO who lacks vision. And Marie is more worried about V2MOM's and her race track then she is the business.

10000% agree. Chuck and his ELT is grossly incompetent and I as well question the boards ethics by allowing him and his ELT to stay. The accounting shell games or fraud as many would call it and Chuck driving the company into the ground. They must all go.

Hire back with good cash our winners and innovators that have left that made Cisco so great and a leader. We can still win and dominate if we had real leadership not social justice activists.

Funny about the down vote. How can anyone with a brain disagree with this post?

This summary is just truth! No lipstick on that pig is ever going to make it a unicorn. Rip the damn bandage off (Sunset all the ELT Starting with the damn captain Chuck), hire back with good cash the best that left and got the Education that we need about cloud SAAS that are at GCP, AWS, MSFT and even IBM. Let’s get our winning culture back by getting the best engineer and marketing people.

Chuck is either the worst CEO in history at business or wants to get Cisco ready to be parted out or sold off because it’s not about winning.
