Thread regarding Mondelez International Inc. layoffs

Excuses, excuses.......

I have to say, this site is entertaining! Reading all the posts from those trying to defend the position that Mondelez is "committed to DSD, well those are the best!
Topping my list is..."they are still hiring"! Such a laugh!
The reason they are still hiring is because employment at Mondelez is a revolving door! We can't keep merchandisers, and this retention of hired help is a huge issue!
Management should take a deep dive look into why.....

  • total lack of transparency
  • new hires are treated worse than dirt
  • hiring from within...haha. Nepotism is managements version of hiring from within.

I've been with Mondelez for almost 20 yrs, we will never stop hiring until we work to correct these issues, and with current senior management, that won't happen.
Young employees...take your experience elsewhere.
Some level of continual hiring is to be expected with an organization, but the level we experience, that is a reflection of management.
DSD is ending and warehouse is coming...reason they don't care!

I don't believe the pandemic has any effect on the timeline of things. Retailers are all moving in the direction of warehouse. They have had the benefit of seeing other companies go warehouse and can use that experience to make every transition smoother.
Anyone who would believe WM, who is the largest retailer in the world and accounts for more than 25% of Mondelez sales in the US, and generates orders through EDI, is remaining DSD....those people need to have their heads examined! The point of going warehouse is to save money...why would they continue to pay higher costs for their goods? They wouldn't.
Quit looking to "your DM" for reassurance that your job is safe. They will tell you what "they" think "you" need to hear to feel safe, they don't want you to quit cause they need you till the end.

I still think it is going to happen pretty soon. I heard from one of the sales reps that he cannot touch the Wal-Mart EDI orders anymore. We will not get much notice. Mondelez is very secretive.

Because of the pandemic, do you think that ending DSD has been delayed?
I would've thought that we would have been gone by now!

Oh yeah, he's gone! People will leave and their positions won't be back filled. Only positions that are being filled are field sales roles because once the transition to warehouse is announced people will scramble to find new jobs. Smart people know the severance package will be worthless, as it has been in the past. They cap benefits so long tenured employees don't get anything worthwhile.
