Why is it that it's always the same people who do all the work and always the same people who smile and chat their way through their shift without even lifting their finger, and it's the later ones who always get ahead? How is that possible and how is that in anyway, shape, or form okay?

That's because it depends on who's @#$ you are kissing!
Even if you speak up it does no good. Believe me in my club countless people have complained to managers and nothing is never done about it ,it goes in one ear and out the other. They get away with half hour breaks (or longer) hour long lunches, they either do time adjustments or have the team leads do it for them they are going out to lunch with the floor people and also adjusting there times. It's a joke so madding & irritating makes you hate your job even more !!
Because the same people who do all the work allow it to continue and don't speak up for themselves.
