Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Is anybody still happy at Allstate?

No matter how much you like your job, this constant fear of more cuts can't be good for either our mental or emotional health. I don't see how anybody could be happy to work here at this point in time. And to think, there was a time when this was one of the better companies to be employed at.

Definitely understandable my friend, I think it’s pretty slimy but that’s how they want us to do this job. I still follow the p-pages and write for everything visible. I can understand why you would leave, or why anyone would at this point, this company is in the toilet.

Mr Pooter, lowballing customers claim settlements with the intent that they will take the money and run was something I struggled with. Was not taught this tactic when hired by allstate 20 yrs ago. This goes against my moral fortitude, I had to accept like you and others what allstate was asking of us but in the end I was not able to reconcile within myself and decided to resign.
The Allstate policy as written does not have a provision for lowballing claim payments to the consumer or repair shops. Most experienced auto adjusters would be able to curtail fraud and abuse by shops and the customer.

Well the way I see it, Allstate pays me to do this job the way they want, shops and customers are not on your side, they will take advantage of you just as bad as Allstate, how many times have customers lied to your face about UPD or FOL? Shops too, they will rob you blind if you let them. Allstate pays the bills so lowball and penny pinching it is.

Why are you working 11 hr days in the field? You think they give a sh*t about you. You let them take advantage for What? Job security? Working from home and still getting called out for estimate accuracy as if you are standing face to face with the vehicle was total b.s. still get complaints from the customer and shops still unhappy with lowball estimates. Now settle all total loss claims and still keep up production, meet estimating metrics which are mostly out of reach. I used to enjoy this shop very much but they have transformed into a pile of ****.

Still getting paid my salary to work from home and do photo/video claims, it’s actually 10 times less stressful than 11 hour days in the field face to face with p-ss-d off shops and customers, constant complaining, constant time crunch, trying to schedule 5-6 inspects in a 50 mile radius, demanding customers that want everything exact on their schedule. Unlimited coffee and bathroom breaks!

I personally know more people upset that they weren't laid off with severance than people upset that they were actually laid off. That speaks volumes. Actually most of the people laid off after the initial shock wore off were actually relieved to be gone from this company.

I got a job offer for a company that is willing to pay me more money, but not remote.... the office culture seems like a breath of fresh air though. Less pto...

Decisions, decisions....

I think the work force is pretty demoralized and the threat of layoffs to start again within the next 6 months must be stressful. As soon as the economy recovers, many will look for the exits, especially the talented ones. No one wishes to put up with this constant c-ap coming from Mr. Wilson, They should do an employee survey now and present it to the board.

Sure, I am. I have flexibility in my hours, generous vacation time and it looks like I’ll be permanently working from home. I don’t think I’d find this amount of flexibility and work/life balance elsewhere. For me, this makes up for the sh–ty leadership, half-assed benefits and stress. I’m going to ride this wave as long as it lasts.
