So I remember almost on a weekly basis in team meeting being suggested to , to take vacation. They were telling us that it will be hard to take it toward the end of the year and that we can only carry over 1 years worth. Like an id–t I took much of my vacation. Now it comes to pass we were laid off. Guess what, we get paid for unused vacation. So someone higher up was pushing lower management to get us to use our vacation. So this is just one way RJ was trying to save money...just sayin....

Everyone that has requested holiday time off in my area has gotten it approved. They were lying to pay out less.

No. It was to reduce the payouts. They paid out vacation time with the packages. If you took it, that was less they paid out in cash.
Yes, we were constantly reminded to take vacation days. Probably many employees will not be able to take many vacations days for the remaining of the year if they have now more work.
