I can only say what I’ve heard. Much like the Stonehouse factory I said would close a year before it did, after hearing the plans. A month ago now I heard plans to shut Gateshead factory. I wish you all the best.

At work I’m a controlling, manipulative and cohesive manager.

You think you shop floor guys ate hard done by. I work 12 hrs a day plus and roll off the Mrs when m mobile rings. I love the work ethic I have. I’ve missed birthdays of my family, marriage anniversaries, family gatherings. All in the name of my real family NOV. nothing else matters to me apart from self Promotion.
No doubt I will be living in a 1 bed flat with a NOV login. Because NOV is more important than the air I breathe.

Fab work ca be sub contracted to the midd east at a fraction of uk labour rates.
Paint also can be subcontracted out locally, equally at a fraction of in-house paint
These two alone save. Pension contributions, bonuses, union pay rise, and salary offset.

Every business should have a risk to business strategy. Gateshead is no exception to this.
This is only in place from a departmental view.
What is the risk of say engineering to manufacturing. What’s the risk of manufacturing to sales or future sales.
Looking at if someone is leaving or Ill or a departmental lottery win goes some way to managing risk.
Bigger picture, has this idea been tabled or even thought of.

Extended working from home for some departments. Which means, in the new year redundancies are complete, and closure announced 1st qtr.
This give time for such departments to locate into smaller offices.
Remember. Eng, Sales and Tech Solutions are not connected to Gateshead management structure. They report away from the facility. They are your customer giving you work. Although they “try” to protect the Gateshead Brand which is Anson.
This is a corporate, capitalist organisation.
