Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

ABU News

Any news on how things panned out in the ABU? Worst hit departments... numbers on the chopping block... those left any good?

It’s not why Chevron lay off people (everyone understands the situation) - it’s simply how they go about the process and who gets selected to stay or go. From what I’ve seen in the ABU, there’s no rhyme or reason as to most of the layoffs other than who you know, whether you manage upwards, have spoken up (challenged) previously and don’t question the leadership team. I’m seeing a company making significant detrimental decisions during an organisational restructure when now was the Ideal opportunity to set the company up for future success. The ABU and CVX should be a good company and great place to work but the current leadership team have ensured it’s the opposite. Moral and work ethics are at the an all time low and at the worst I’ve ever seen in any organisation. I don’t see people working together as one company towards the same goals rather individuals and silos within silos protecting their own interests and surrounding themselves with incompetent, lazy or non-qualified individuals who won’t challenge the status. People are simply too afraid to speak up as they’ve seen first hand what happens to their colleagues who do. There is now an embedded culture in the ABU, which is the complete opposite any good leader would want to create or see in the future, it’s the complete opposite paragon of what the corporation continue to preach and advertise in their glossy brochures. Unfortunately, the paradigm is being created, all the indicators and behaviours are there and now currently being well and truly embedded. Let’s just hope Chevron don’t hurt too many people when they have that major future incident. For those that leave it could well be a blessing in disguise.
