Just like FHEG what is happening in FSS is all about cost cutting. No amount of new technology is going to revive a no longer relevant business model. The goal is to reduce cost and delay the inevitable outcome. I am sorry that so many fine people have been ground up and thrown away in the process.
@3ndx+17r55EuF, I’m not sure where in my post you pick up that I think I’m better than anyone else. I was a finance guy that suffered from the same Follett family abuse as anyone else that works here, before they laid me off.
Not better. Not worse. Just an observer of the data. Disagreeing with the prevailing sentiment does not make someone a troll, no matter who got fired. I feel for GG. Nice man. Still, stripped of acquisitions, FSS has been in revenue and profit decline for years. Resource Manager is old, old, old technology. Aspen is good but has a highly limited target customer group. The buyer of the biggest business is the librarian - virtually irrelevant in the school industry.
FSS is on the same decline curve as FHEG and when Amazon Microsoft Apple and others figure out there’s easy pickings, everyone will be laid off. So, to my comment, it’s time for FSS to stop bragging about being the tallest “troll,” as their barely better than anyone else in the prison.
They let GG go? They want to focus on new tech and software but let him go? Does BF think she can wing it when it comes to technology? I know a few people who were let go on Thursday and they were the back bones of their departments. I see a lot of the “decision makers” were kept. Specifically the ones who made horrible decisions. Good job BF. Maybe you can pat yourself on the back in your next blog that nobody really cares about anymore.

First @2oxg+17r55EuF, don’t be a troll, acting as if you’re better than anyone. The OP was discussing current statistics, and should you look them up, you would understand the why behind his point. Second, when you’ve realized your ignorant response, you’ll also realize the extent of the problem. Sure: we can outsource to India and make Aman’s country more profitable, whilst introducing TONS of defects and saving a buck initially (and generating a ton of unsatisfied customer complaints with sub-par software)... or we could invest in US labor and put out better applications for our customers.
Don’t be a troll or a douchebag. Someone lost their job. That someone was great motivation for dozens of developers that turn a profit for Follett. Many of those are now looking elsewhere because Aman and BF aren’t as loyal as they want the “people” to believe they are.
I’m going to guess someone from FSS? The business that constantly tells you how they make all the profit (which is factually untrue) and leave out the fact that the business has been in decline for years. It’s on the same irrelevance curve as FHEG just a couple of years lagging.

Those that chose this should be ashamed of themselves. You have been the best, most accountable and encouraging leader our team has ever had. We were told about you leaving, but of course, not given any details (though the company touts their “transparency”, this is clearly b.s.). You will be missed. You’re absolutely correct in that the knowledge will start walking out the door. They’ll likely then offshore, and the whole company will crumble.
