Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Sales Layoffs

Heard enterprise OD in cloud tech has 33% on PIP w/ 60k quota to hit before end of quarter.

Midmarket cloud tech not hiring. Anyone else know of downsizing sales orgs?

It's a shame as OD makes sense organizationally, we've just filled it with BDCs who blasted volume BS messaging to get oPpS and now they are not cut out to be in a sales role for technical products. Now the only sales role in cloud tech seems like it may be field and BDC

Doctor: "We need to excise the OD tumor. Hand me the scalpel."

Nurse: "But I thought you told me that the cancer had metastasized, and that there are many more tumors in addition to this one. What's the use?"

Doctor: "Yes, that's what I said, but we can extend the life of the patient this way, even though it a terminal - a lost cause"

Unreal how even after all the RIFs there are still innumerable parasites attached all over the company. The sooner these OD leeches are fired the better.

"This is complete and utter BS”

OD Shill Alert!!

Hey buddy, I've got news for you. The "not a value add" description of OD wasn't coined yesterday. That's been the Oracle-internal view of OD since the formation of their (totally useless) org. Bottom line, time for your nap and STFU.

Hey dork, with a response like that I’m betting that you are one of the 33% that’s on a PIP! There’s really no other explanation as far as why you would be spending surfing the oracle lay-off site, versus working on that quota you’re running out of time on. The good news: we won’t have to worry about you anymore in just a few more short weeks. Adios loser!

there is a specific role for OD, which is working on certain size deals so the field can concentrate on the bigger deals

That is always how OD is positioned to the rest of the sales force. However, in practice, general consensus among actual sales personnel is that OD is not a "value add" (the most constructive way I can think of putting it)

Spare us the OD hype/spin and stop embarassing yourself. We know better.

"OD is not a "value add" to Oracle, and has never been for as long as I can remember. As far as I'm concerned, the more OD reps that are fired, the better"

This is complete and utter BS. there is a specific role for OD, which is working on certain size deals so the field can concentrate on the bigger deals. There are also a lot of field reps that really do not know what they are doing, cant work the internal systems and refuse to work with OD. regarding parties, dramas etc at hubs- that is no more. do not speak of which you do not know

All the OD Hubs are akin to perpetual college dorm parties. Lots of social interaction/events, birthday parties, fashion statements/competition, office romance dramas, etc. I'm sure they were all good students from decent universities, but no real, value-add work gets accomplished. Another failed Mark Hurd experiment.

If they're on PIP, won't they get fired instead of riffed?

I agree. I blame BDC org for pitching "you don't need to know product" and "it's a numbers game" as the only training and then promoting them based on based on broken metrics. Result is a bunch of bozos who have no idea how to progress deals. And generally speaking, the OD org does s—, but I do believe it should exist, albeit in a much overhauled fashion. I've never worked with a good OD rep, and purposely leave them out of deals as they just make things worse, not better. Also, the managers and directors who have been at Oracle for 6+ years and haven't sold anything since 2014 or before, should really be evaluated as a value add. If they have never sold cloud, they can't really teach people how to. Most of them were reps when we were the only option for HW and licensing and never had to understand wtf a workload even was.

What do you do?

I revealed this at the beginning of the quarter, but unsurprisingly got a bunch of sass from some dummies in OD - probably the same folks on the PIPs.

OD is not a "value add" to Oracle, and has never been for as long as I can remember. As far as I'm concerned, the more OD reps that are fired, the better
