Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Follett will survive

This might be one of the worst situations we've found ourselves in but I still have faith. We are a huge company. If I'm not mistaken, there are around 12000 people still working here. And too many people still rely on our materials for us to just disappear. I just wish people would stop scaring everybody into thinking this is the end. Follett has much more left to give.

LMAO! "Follett has so much more to give". Seriously! Who have you been reporting to for the last several years, because all the rest of us see is Follett taking, not giving. C'mon down to thee ranks where the worker bees are. There's been no Follett-generosity for YEARS.

Follett has survived this pandemic just like always, on the backs of the employees with furloughs, govt assistance through PPE and jerking vendors around with payments. Btw, I think the numbers of 12k are grossly overstated, more like 6k employees and dropping every year. There is no growth at Follett, only reductions. Been that way since 2012.

Even though Follett has “so much more to give”, they need dedicated employees to do so. In order to have dedicated employees, you need to stop with the deception and actually dedicate yourself to them as well. It’s a partnership that can and will work well if you do so. Your employees need you as much as you need them.

If you’re thinking the Follett brand will survive after outsourcing to India, you’re very mistaken. If you think our U.S. based districts and schools will be happy when they call into customer service or tech support and every one will have a strong accent, I think you’re fooling yourself.

Save a dime to spend a dollar is not a great business move. I’m sure you will agree. Sure, you think it’s smart and cheaper now to get the “fastest” delivery time... do you really want something fast and bad quality, or do you want it 2 days later at great quality???

Invest your dollars in that will give you and the shareholders a maximum ROI, and the company will be fine. Taking a dump on those that have given you the dividends you have received, and are currently receiving, is horrible. Your profits will decline, as will your customer base. And listening to every word of Aman’s nonsense is clearly driving the business to the ground. Think smarter BF. You can do this. Channel your inner Follett and get rid of the puppet attempting to lead you by the nose.

Vendors are not getting paid. Outstanding invoices have been sitting in a pile for the past 8 months.

Did something happen specifically or just the fear that's filling every pore of the employee pool? The former would be nice to get whatever concrete details can safely be shared. The latter will continue. Sadly.

Really? Why don't you just randomly call 10 of Folletts vendors and see how many are paid in full and are up to date. I predict bankruptcy by spring of 2021.

12,000 if you count Baker and Taylor and other smaller acquisitions.
There is a reason why the latest Revenue Information listed here is from 2008 and the number of employees is listed on this website as 8,000.
Let's not forget the tax breaks the Family got for keeping the business in Illinois. Then laying off all the employees they were allowed.

Don't underestimate Follett though, they have much more to take!

"People rely on our materials " is exactly the arrogant attitude that will k–l a business. It should be, "we rely on our customers and team members and should treat them as such."
