Thread regarding Avid Technology Inc. layoffs

Just laid off today

Anyone else? I actually liked working for Avid so this is a huge bummer. Have not received the email with my separation package yet... not sure what to expect from HR, etc.

This has been going on for a decade and will not stop until this organization is bankrupt or sold (which will be very soon). The place has fallen apart and is a very small player in industries we were once the undisputed defacto standard. The primary objective is to keep the company floating so that useless, incompetent executives (director level + above) can continue to get their big salaries and cash out some stocks. No one is going to hire any of these executives and they know it because they have tried to get out and there are no takers. What organization would hire our CPO or CEO based on the track record of what they had done at Avid? The answer is simple - no one will. Same goes for all the director level + above people. All it has been for the last 5+ years is watching suk-ups, suk-up, kiss butt and be little pets to save their job. I'm here simply because like most other employees I'm cruising, make too much, doing as little as possible, pull the WFH thing (which means I'm doing about 1 hour worth of work then do my own thing,). Big difference is when this ends I have opportunities, not like all the over-paid executive losers. Come Oct 28th we will once again get the id–tic entertainment from the CFO + CEO talking to the investment community like they are a bunch of id–ts as the CFO + CEO say "look at how great we are doing" "The future is great, we have positioned ourselves for enormous growth and profitability" These are obvious empty statements because no executive level people are buying Avid stock with their own money. They know it is a horrible investment. They are simply trying to cash out on the stocks they were given at no cost.

Expect more waves to come. Company still bigger than it can afford (and needs) to be.
If your role is non-essential, if you are in an unprofitable group, or if you are not a high performer, look for something else or regret later.

LATAM team i've been told is gone. Sad. I wonder how much management is gone or just the soldiers on the ground?

Sorry about this. At least 20 more. Did they explain why they chose you? (unprofitable product line, role moved overseas, low productivity, salary too high, etc)
