Thread regarding JPMorgan Chase & Co. layoffs

Can your position be performed72 overseas?

In order to know if you are at risk of being laid off, you have to ask yourself one single question:

  • Can your position be performed by someone cheaper overseas?

In my case, I would say yes, however, my counterparts say no. Since we deal with Federal, Governmental entities, by law, such clients must have direct contact with employees on American soil.

And what about you? Are you at risk?

Poland got rid of checks long time ago due to them being an ancient form of payment, bouncing and check fraud, so yes checks processing might not be understood by Poles. Poland implemented electronic payments very long time ago and never looked back.

There is no need insult Polish employees. If they're not properly trained and can't interpret certain US legislation, it's the fault of the management not employees.

Yes, most definitely many peoples jobs can be performed overseas. There is currently a jobs orgy in Poland. Any schmuck from the street can become an analyst, supervisor, manager etc... and they get hired. There are people in Poland, that analyze your unusual transactions, apply broken logic due to a misunderstanding of the patriot act (as English is not their first or second language), and decide if your details should be forwarded to the authorities. They don't even understand a concept of a check. There are managers that LITERALLY don't know how to count, running division of 200 people. And JP Morgan does not care!!! Everyone in Poland is 4x cheaper than in the US. (Current Rate of exchange is 1 USD to 3.98 PLN). Whatever mistake they make, can easily be paid off with the savings made. Eg: through overtime, fines etc...

Why would anyone train someone offshore. My department manager is asking for "mentors" to train offshore and 3rd party consultants and nobody in my department is volunteering because we have figureed on the plan. Won't be long before we are "volun-told", I which point I will opt out of Chase forever. I won't sell my dignity for a few more months on the job. They can kiss my A....
