Management only received bonuses since I started my career in 1991. First extra money I received
aside from retro pay (union involved.) Not mad for extra cash...never found cash insulting

The railroad is the only workplace I know of where people will bit*h about an unexpected extra $1000 in the bank. Predicted this as soon as I heard about it.

What's more dangerous? Seriously? In a yard that got switched from a hump hard to flat switching? They flat switch from both ends of the yard now 24/7. Trying to lock up a switch is like human frogger. I'll be working a track and have unannounced cars flying by me in both directions. I had a flat car coming down the track next to me with a giant piece of lumber that was bolted to it flying through my walking path on track. Got pictures.

I was a regular on this board until I finally got the courage to switch careers. I've found that if you're not spending 40+ hours a week absolutely hating life, you start running out of stuff to gripe about.

To anyone who's thinking about trying a different career: The grass is green AF on this side of the fence. RR has retirement and good insurance, but with a little diligence on your part you can more than make up for it working somewhere else. Don't wait around for them to lay you off when you can lay UP off.

Rant over, good luck guys.

Well to start with Mr. Manager, is because everyone is stressed due to the fact that they could loose their livelihood at any given second. One or two employees covering eight to ten positions. Cutting corners/rules to meet that goal. Fleet, track, right of ways, and etc. is in disrepair and getting worse daily. Morale is the lowest in 30 years. Basic supplies, parts, tools, etc. are in short supply or non-existent. No checks/balances in place to keep the executives, board, and shareholders greed within limits. FRA and unions are bought and paid for and totally useless. The only slight glimmer in sight is when all of this house of cards empty shell collapses upon itself. When the tides go out, then we will see those who are swimming without trunks. Rant over.

The bonus is an insult? Go work somewhere else if it’s so bad. Makes no sense

What’s more dangerous about your job?

The bonus is an insult. You've given me more work for the same money, and made my job incredibly more dangerous.

Yeah some or most people are probably tired of slamming the UP. This could've all been avoided if LF would've been a good leader and run the company they way it should've been run. The bonus is a joke to some, but it's more of a massive insult to most. The boots on the ground is what kept this company up and running. Some locations have managers scrambling to repair the damage from the cuts. Oh wait, here's a small bonus for risking your life to do the things that made this company one of the worst. Congratulations UP! I hope you're proud.

If you donate your bonus to a local food bank, you’ll feel better.

Think everyone is tired of talking about UP. And weve all been s—ered into a bonus so we all think UP is cool now
