Wouldn’t it be nice if the company decided to treat us like the adults that we are and be completely transparent in regards to layoffs? They don’t even have to say who is going to be laid off, but at least let us know in advance how many and what departments - and when. Give those in affected departments a chance to prepare while letting the rest focus on their work without an extra layer of worry. Yeah I know - wishful thinking.

It’s funny that the blacks, hispanics, native Americans are always front of the line when it comes to staffing adjustments. And yes I know Collins isn’t racist, they donate to various charities and are good citizens.
The main reason is security. Don't want someone getting a headstart on planning what their last day in office is going to look like, especially if it might be a violent one. Opens the company up to potential liabilities.
Just walked out 29 in Decorah, Ia.
In my experience their tactic is to leak pretty accurate layoff information and dates, so that it's not a major shock when it happens. That way they can also back out of it and not lose face, but that usually doesn't happen.
I can almost guarantee you the reason they don’t let us know is because they do not know themselves.
