Just imagine where we could be if our ELT put half as much energy into winning business as they do into cost cutting (or to be more precise, layoffs.) But no, why try to do the logical thing that might even remove the need for layoffs and improve profits long-term when you can simply just keep having layoffs for short and unsustainable profit boosts. Don't fix what's not broken and all that stuff, right?

Winning new business is hard when the products are so much more expensive than rivals that offer 90% of the functionality for a lot less cash.
If I don't need advanced features why am I installing Oracle RDBMS rather than free Postgres?
The only sensible path is to make as much money from the existing, shrinking user base.
