Severance Pay?

I've been reading on this site about people losing severance pay if Honeywell makes you an offer to come back to work. What if I already received my last severance paycheck, and now they want to offer me my job back? Will I have to pay back severance that was already received? I am not saying I will go back to Honeywell. I'm both angry and sad the way things turned out. I used to be proud to say I work for Honeywell. I was loyal and dedicated. Such a bummer.

Once the severance is done, you should be free and clear. HOWEVER, if you have any pension benefit available get the lump sum before resigning with the evil empire. Make sure you’ve got that money and then you should just be like any other new employee.

Do you really want to return?

HW will follow after GE and Boeing. Basically bad leadership decisions will eventually plunge its stocks and make it worthless. Do you really want to go back?

OP: While you are on severance pay you are still actually an employee. You're receiving a continuation paycheck and paying federal, state, social security and medicare taxes and receiving benefits like medical insurance. NO, you do not have to return those payments if you are offered your job back.

Honeywell treats employees like cell phone companies treat customers. no raises, bonuses, or perks for loyalty.

Sorry for the length, but this is a mine maze.

Yes, can’t reapply / transfer because you lose severance and could be low balled on an unacceptable offer.

I got laid off. An old boss wanted to hire me back as a contractor and I was willing, unfortunately HR threw up the roadblocks claiming some BS about having to wait 6 months after the last severance. Ok... fine no contract gig.... moving on...

As a full time guy with a pension, I only feel comfortable once the pension funds are in my hands. It’s just too slippery of a slope legally to go back and risk the loss of a decade plus worth of pension payout. Ok... fine... wait until then. I got let go in June and have been told I might get my pension check in Jan 2021. (No typo here boys).

Your actually treated worse as a good loyal long standing employee than a random applicant off the street!

It’s best to move on with a new company.
