Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

Recent Experiences

I honestly hope the company goes down in flames. Between the extended hours, filling hundreds of CDS & BOPIS. This is unbelievable, 4 of us had to stay an additional 2 hours to finish the work and that was just to pull the items not even pack them.... I feel sorry for the morning crew who has to finish it.

But some of us will only be able to sleep at most a few hours before we are called in to work the 4 am shift. we're overworked and frustrated... and today was no different.

Our customer service is at its lowest and any associate pulling BOPIS is told specifically that "The BOPIS you're filling, is your customer." and to ignore any other customers on the floor.... we cant handle the stress... most of us are now sleeping on our lunches, or calling out sick just to rest.... how much longer can we endure the BS.

We shouldn't have to.

Side note, If I wanted to report certain grievances of clear violations of health/safety/labor laws to the higher powers. Who would i report them to if my store was based in CA?

U can split the cds orders before you start them. U can split them into however many you need so more than 1 person can pull orders. Can do the same thing with bopis and replenishment.

They're screwing us with the orders. Only one person can be in the pick list at once so you can't even have more than one pulling. They first told us we would only be getting like 15 cds order increase but we were getting 25. Then they said 50 a day, but it's 100. We are 100% out of boxes and shwartz is almost back ordered. Im the receiver but don't do any receiving. I spend my entire day just doing orders. Luckily, someone comes in at 5 and receives some, but its not enough time to get the massive amount of freight done. We're busy as hell and don't have enough staff to help customers and do freight etc. And the company's way of "thanking" us is giving us apples on Friday. Oh yeah, thanks. This apple makes up for all the b.s, stress, frustration and awful pay you put us through

Our store has been slow this season we've had a stream with Bopis but they're closing us anyway. Bopis is a joke, we don't have enough people to pull for products, do any curbside and floor people to stock or help customers. They knew they were shutting us down do didn't hire enough people. You can tell the employees don't care if we get orders out on time. We're backed up with Bopis and they'll all going out late and no one cares.

it’s not going to get any better; their response to being backlogged by 100k orders was to double the already overwhelmed stores’ CDS orders, with the same skeleton crews that caused the backlog in the first place

First of all most stores are not properly set up for these systems to run efficiently, not enough tc52’s for bopis, cds, pogging.Handheld scanners are in use all day by receiving so those are not available M-F. Cds done in receiving which is jammed packed, bopis done in the bridal room with carts of picked bopis surrounding it!!! This is a category 5 hurricane with no preparation!!!! Still hoping it gets better but that hope is getting dimmer everyday!!!!

The Omni first b—s— I can agree with. I’m down to two cashiers and myself (ops) on the sales floor. Three people working bopis and curbside 5 people working CDS and given the same message, the bopis/cds customer is more important. I had to tell an associate “we promised the CDS customer 3-6 days and this customer is in the building now! Go help them.” The SM and DM after the the Omni customer trumps everything else so not only has floor coverage and customer service suffered but receiving has been taken over by CDS leaving no where to process in coming trucks or complete the damages process. I haven’t been able to ship out donations/liquidations in two months because of CDS and have damage bins we can’t get caught up on because there is no space to work. Guess where a lot of the unfulfilled bopis/CDS items are probably sitting in your stores.

Look for much smaller stores with less merchandise which has already been happening.
The next big thing is FULFILLMENT CENTERS in towns/neighborhoods which will replace many retail stores (think: UPS stores). You can order to your fulfillment center, pick up there and avoid any shipping fees, and also return your unwanted merchandise there. Several department stores will share the same spaces.
Anyone remember the old Sears, Roebuck and S&H?

In California call the Labor Board at the Department of Industrial Relations. Don't get your hopes too high but it's worth the try.

You have a choice to quit. It's only gonna difficult as the company continues to change. Rather than post here spend time on your resume.
