Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Project/Program Managers

Does anyone have any insight if project/program managers are being slowly faded out? Lately, pm’s have been removed from various tasks in timeline process and left out of conversations. Your feedback is much appreciated!

If you're >45years and still working there, you'll be "faded out" soon, if not now, then eventually. that's how it worked in the us empire. (Extreme) Profits over people

In the end, the us employer usually wins. we're owned. we 're nothing but tax and debt chattel to be milked and exploited. also, many employees enjoy bragging about their exploitation- like corporate stockholm syndrome.

All the folks I know that got laid off are older and have been with the company for a long time. Now to avoid age discrimination lawsuit, they have to provide workers over 40 with some information. Normally, they will just pay you a term out payout so you do not sue for age. Now if you were lay off and over 40, there are some special documents they have to provide you otherwise you could still sue and keep the payout.

Finally, if there is a group lay-off — basically, if more than one employee is being terminated as a result of the same decision — the employee gets 45 days to consider the offer, instead of 21 days. Moreover, the employee must also be given information about the other employees in similar positions who are or are not being laid off. That information includes job title and category of age.

If ur over 45 or so, they will find a way to get rid of you. Then get a eager beaver in there, pay em peanuts, work em hard, empty promise them, then toss em. It's the US empire way! Go capitalism. It's happened at that corporation many times. No one is safe esp "project" managers–many are fugible and redundant with no real special skills–glorified secretary

A lot aren't needed and they have no real authority to make sure deliverables on time. So more delays that were going to happen anyways with less cost.

Yes. In Optum Technology we ate no longer having Project Managers. They add overhead and costs to getting delivery done. I let all mine grandowered costs and sped up delivery.
