Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Why did you post this? This is site is about layoffs and next steps. Are some keeping their jobs because of these “credentials”?

Go find some low level managers in EMIT, data science and digital transformation who cannot write three lines of coherent code or able to intellectually contribute to any discussion yet they are managing and "leading" Ph.D.s.

Who cares. Everyone is aware of this. People know it’s doesn’t carry weight.

What gives you the impression the company cares about top tier schools? Seems these so called fakers just need a time machine and go back and get an Aggie undergrad degree and join at 22 and drink the Kool aid....having actual knowledge will just upset your insecure / incompetent managers. Trust me, I’m one of the non fakers and nothing about my past education is respected in the twilight zone that is this place....

How about attending a 2 day course at Harvard and write in external publicized bio referring themselves as Harvard graduate without mention of real alma mater. Where is the line drawn if any in our organization?

Anyone of you could have worked hard to achieve one of these fake degrees a capitalized on it, you just weren’t smart enough to do so, you bunch of whiners

I know one of these “fakers” that did a certificate program with one of the big names... great person and very capable regardless of what school they went to. I know another “faker” in a management position in one of the OP mentioned orgs and this person is nothing more than a sycophant. Just goes to show you can’t just lump people into categories no matter how convenient it is.

It has been like that since childhood. While we cannot control the charade, best to improve your own career, continue working hard.

If you are not rewarded.. well that means the company is not worth your time. Move on. Hating won't help other than k–l your brain cells.

Who is to say a normal MBA (parent supported) is better than an EMBA (often self supported) who has better industry experience.

I think this is a common game everywhere. So many folks have "executive MBAs" and try to fudge these into real MBAs from ivy league schools. In reality, they could never get into these schools. And some of these individuals take four-week certification courses and portray these as actual degrees! If you want to confirm this, simply take a look at many Linkedin bios...

Learning is wonderful if all of us are motivated to learn and produce useful work. The organization looks forward to people who learn and come back to their respective desks and produce quality work. What is concerning is peeps who are running around conducting business with the sole purpose of creating an illusion and pleasing mo–nic bosses.

Let's study characters in our work groups and judge each individual based on their sincerity, honesty and real productivity in the past 10 years.

Identify the fake ones is all that the company asks for.

If someone is taking extra courses and certification, kudos to them. May be they are taking initiative to better themselves instead of complaining. Have you thought of that? No one is stopping you to do the same. If it is so easy get these, why don't you do it too?
