Thread regarding Norfolk Southern Corp. layoffs

Judgement day has arrived

With the main competition now days away from reporting their usual better than ever results, there must be a frenzied panic at the top at ns as they run the numbers every way possible to be close to meeting the long-awaited expectations.

Remember: the goals of the TOP21 plan were promised to be met BY 2021 and so here we are...judgement day has arrived. Squires neck will be the first to get the blade should we fall far short.

Exactly what @1joc+18P8fCMH said.

Just a different perspective? Maybe they want it to crumble? Gut the place for spare parts and make their money . Then use Covid as an excuse to bail them out . If auto manufacturers, airlines , banks all got the free government cheese . Why would the railroads be any different ?

sooo.....they are using pti drivers as undercover moles to spy and eavesdrop on crews while they use the company phones? and then they run to upper management and the gathered intelligence is then used to decide which yard to shut down next? bro.. seriously.....

Remember top21 actually calls for 4 straight quarters of a .60 operating ratio in 2021. 4th quarter 2020 doesn't matter. The report to watch is in april for the first quarter of 2021. This is the quarter you'll see the managmant cuts along with continued yard closures and sale of assets. As the first qaurter janurary 1st to march 31st has to obtain that .60OR you'll see this in the coming weeks especially in areas that have received the mobile reporting phones. Also be wary of plants jn the field, I had a pti driver the other day who was a managment plant to get information from crews and see how this are first hand. Think undercover boss.

Quickest way to reduce cost is trim the fat of the Ivy Leaguers in the Goode building. Those are the ones you could cut and see a big difference.

They will have a hard time matching other railroads OR. A business cannot get a accurate picture of its self when it lies to its self at every turn. Every level of this company lies to its self from signing off items not fixed or not tested, train departure times, ect. When they use numbers not based in reality to make cuts, the cuts don’t have the effect they should because they are false.
