Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Count me in as well.... over 55, and RA'ed today

Have to love it when an unexpected meeting invite from your manager is waiting for you in your email! Targeted? Who knows. Though I can't wait to see how they move forward in my team. We are struggling to get our work done as it is.

Same here...meeting invite looked odd especially One on One with no Subject / Agenda. I had very bad gut feeling about what the meeting topic was all about and sure enough I got RA'd.

Its not rocket science.

If you dont have people to do the work, you will not do that work. Maybe Sr Management Execs dont want their team to working on those work items, which are absolutely not high priority items.
For example, many years back in Support, we used to help our customers with performance tuning, initial deployment support without additional fees, then with a skeleton staff we starting telling our customers that they should engage Services, with Services gone as well, we need to tell them they need to engage Business Partners.
Its ultimately customers who get the brunt (or team members, who take it on themselves to help customers). There is a spiral effect of this though, that customers start seeing through this and take their business somewhere else.

I dont know how other software vendors (such as MSFT, AMZ) manage such a high revenue to employee ratio..
