Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Anyone RA'd in 2019 receive a W-2 from IBM for 2020?

I got cut way back in fall 2019 and didn't receive any more compensation other than my last check plus separation at termination time. Surprisingly, I got a W-2 this morning in the mail from IBM for $100 wages paid in 2020. I have no idea what this was for - I am sure I didn't get any money from them last year.

Anyone else get this? Any idea how I can contact IBM HR as an ex-employee (since the only message on the form says to visit the Payroll site on the IBM Intranet (W3) !

Oops.. Just re-read the previous comment that stated I will "not" receive another W-2 for this year. Ok, that makes sense now. It was only for 6 months. Thanks very much for the help, folks!

Wow - Thanks a lot fellas. I still can't get through to Payroll, but you all came through with the answer.

Just for the record, is this something I could have opted out of at Termination time? I don't recall having seen an option to do so, nor do I remember seeing that I would be on the hook to pay this for the next year.

And someone mentioned there would be another next year, too? I was cut in 2019 - will this span all the way until 2021?

Thanks much !

The letter C on your w2 refers to life insurance look at the chart on your back page of w2

I spoke to Fidelity that W2 is 6 months of life insurance that you had after being laid off. After it ended and you did not convert. You will not receive another w2 next year.

Sum it up simple related to life insurance. You need to file the w2 when you do income tax

Funny thing - I tried calling that number yesterday afternoon and choosing the Payroll option, and it gave me that shrill tone and disconnected, same as you get when you reach a number that is no longer in service.

Freaking IBM - it looks like they may have removed the option to call Payroll so they don't have to field questions.

Thanks a lot, my friend!

I sure don't want to owe tax now on some non-existent payment that IBM never made to me. They've caused me enough anguish! ;-)

I'd try the Benefits Center, 800-796-9876. Payroll & E-Totals option.
