Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Unrealistic expectations

Sometimes I wonder if they even look at us as humans? My situation is that I do enough work for three people, for sure. I’m afraid to turn it down because I wouldn’t want to lose my job. When I first started working here a few years ago, I was also working hard, but never on this scale.
I just can’t get that much work done in time and I wonder if they are even aware of it? If I were laid off now, whoever would come in my place, I’m sure they would also not be able to sustain this pace for long.

They are trying to find the breaking point so that they know how much to push the workers to be productive without costing the company more by causing the turnover. You can improve what you can measure is what they are thinking.
There is a question on this board “why are you still working at WF?” – I think someone from the company posted this question to find out the reasons behind the workers staying even though they are unhappy so that the company can use the fIndings to retain the workers while giving the bare minimum of what's required to retain.

Not really is Amazon responsible for this but the WFM corporate is. There are too many people at corporate level of WFM and they want to cut the cost at store level so they themselves keep their jobs a bit longer.

Also, don't do any favors or take on any extra responsibility. Punch in, do whatever your job is, and leave.

That's why you should just do the bare minimum until conditions improve. No point in working any harder than you need to for a company who doesn't actually care about you or your wellbeing. Maybe at some point they understand that treating people better will result in more productive team members.

There are people at Corporate and Global that get paid to come up with ideas. Once the idea is sent to the store level for implementation their job is done. Could be the dumbest idea on the planet, they don't care. Now it's store level TL's job to make it work. The idea might be impossible to implement, totally unrealistic. If TL's and tms don't make it work they get the blame for being ineffective. Idea people get praise, store level people may get written up for being unproductive. Most ideas are ridiculous, but Corporate people are tight and stick together, store level people want to move up and throw each other under the bus. Bottom line...the idea stunk from the beginning.

Which is precisely why we have a ridiculously high turnover rate. The people who run things, especially on the laughably dumb OTS and Store Process end are at best, stupid, and at worst, sadistic. Sadly, we'll leave the company exhausted, depressed, and anxiety-ridden while they'll get bonuses and good jobs elsewhere.
