Thread regarding Belk layoffs

Virus has all but k--led retail

It’s true. We’ve been experiencing this for a good 6 months or more. Even Black Friday didn’t have the anticipated turnout. If anyone is thinking of leaving, my advice is to leave retail all together. The direction the future is pointing towards is online shopping. I hate that this is happening - but it is what it is.

Belk is catering to that Goodwill or Bargain Basement shopper. Most don’t want anything over $10. Very Sad.

Could have seen this coming last year. Online sales is what the companies want.

Middle class disappeared- that’s what happened. People either poor, or just slightly better off. Mortgage/ rent, bills, credit cards charges, few days of simple vacation getaway. Basic life. Fashionable clothes, shoes and accessories are becoming very secondary priorities. And sure, we can bravely buy a sweatshirt or right size tennis shoes online- without feel, touch or try on, because most likely it’s gonna be fine.
