Why does it seem that everybody in a position of power here thinks that management through fear is the only way to manage? Has anybody ever tell them that you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar? The only thing they're achieving with this is k–ling the already low morale and making some of the best people walk away. Ace strategy right there...

I played their game. I had enough of the threats of layoffs and asked to be laid off instead of quitting, so I could collect my severance pay and I was denied. Then I contacted my director and complained about my manager discrimination towards me at work and I was let go in 1 week. Now I was able to receive my severance pay.
Management by fear has always been the mantra of the “phone company”. It got even worse in the SE with the introduction of MSOC. Which by the way had nothing to do with UPS. It was a product of a company called Proudfoot Consulting. The UPS industrial engineers were only used by BellSouth on loan to analyze the time study data collected. Sadly, none of the so called managers at the time, understood the value of using statistical process control to identify roadblocks and change processes to achieve efficiency. Instead, it became a disciplinary tool, and all the roadblocks remained and in fact became part of the job. Then along came att/sbc and the term “customer service” was eliminated from the vocabulary.
Talents that have the means and connections are moving on. You'll see these college kids announcing job acceptance on Linkedin, still plenty of cool-aide to go around. They will learn soon enough.
They can’t scare you if you don’t care. What can they do? Beat me? Lay me off? Ok, hand me my check and I’ll bounce.
Exactly, promote mo–ns with no education
You are better off just playing along. I was cut after making too many suggestions of ways to do it better/faster. Get some good knee pads if you want to stay.
Their " version " of fear is funny. I could take one of them down a dark road and show them true fear
because the company promotes mo–ns for managers. they don't know any better.

Managing by fear is the corporate culture. Has been for a long time.
Stank is the incarnate personification of this (literally, "no where is safe!").
It’s planned! Easier for people to walk away than develop or Ts favorite “work out of the business”
