Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Performance message

Was told by my manager that a current peer (same grade, roughly same time in grade) will soon be my new boss. How unambiguous a message is this of “we don’t give a flying f*k about your future here”?

Not kissing up around here could even get you laid off.

@ugv then you should openly talk about this with your +2 manager and let them know your concerns. In a few quarters if you still feel the same, you can move to a different team. Take career in your own control. Move away from situations that are restrictive for your career.

@zqa+18dEgkzP, my 2 cents is when you are at ~max(grade)/2, a grade diff of only 1 just means they are putting a cap on much they’d allow you to grow

@uwl If your answer is "NO to both", then what are you complaining about. If others have aspirations to become a manager, let them. If they dont manage well, provide feedback. Discuss with your +1 manager.

I never wanted to be a manager at Intel because I did not desire to apply their regimented yearly review formula to others.

Don’t worry too much. Instead, consider your options. The competitive marketplace is giving Intel a “performance message” and it’s headed toward a “corporate-level SL4” in the not-too-distant future!

buddy buddy system. They probably do BBQ together on weekends and possibly even they are cousins or from same Village. Nothing new for Intel.
