Thread regarding Norfolk Southern Corp. layoffs

cry cry

so management jobs is getting cut. so what is the big deal about time. .they are hired off the streets and don't know anything about railroading. it not right that some have jobs to go back to in the railroad.. it is the union that made this mess about saving them jobs by letting them pay union dues. they should have to pick which one. no job protection for them. cut management jobs to the bone just like they done to us.

Will they keep a few track maintenance guys who are qualified to get line ups? Or will they use contractors for that too.

Your 100% right. NS is getting out of the agreement employee business and will only have management to keep eyes on the contract work. If you plan on making NS a career better start looking to get into management. By the end of 2022 management will be the only thing left working as an employee of NS. Loco Maintenance, Track and Signal repair will be contracted out.

No reason that they should not be able to go back to their old craft job that they started in. If they paid their dues, they get the protection. Besides for the most part management that use to work in the crafts are the best ones.
As a side note, you are kidding yourself if you think this company is ever going to cut management. Dont believe me? Just check their very own website. The only thing that they have been hiring consistently for the past year is an endless stream of new management. They arent going anywhere any time soon unless they find new jobs on their own.

NS management’s greatest skill is taking abuse from dumb–s upper management. The best thing that could happen to them is get cut and find out not all companies run scared.
