Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Shift Bidding

So after a year of uncertainty, accesments, lay offs and restructure.. we are know having to bid on what hours we will be working moving forward. Unless your super tenured, your looking at working Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday. This is such a drastic change, how are we supposed to balance work/life with working weekends. The company is gonna have so many walkouts in 2021. With such a drastic change in expectations, if you cannot accept, would severance be a option?

I actually enjoyed the later shift in my days in the customer contact center. Once 9pm or so hit half the people that called were drunk out of their minds. Quite entertaining. Some even called from the bar itself. Many calls would end in a drunken rant about their wife or swearing about how corrupt the insurance industry is. We even got the occasional passing out while still on the phone, them angrily having trouble hanging up their phones, and even the rare vomiting while on the call with us.

If your life permits I highly suggest a 5pm and later start time and Saturday nights as a fun bonus. I'm sure with COVID thrown in the drunks are even more frequent and entertaining. And working from home you can probably even drink with them. :D

Correct, you get the diff all day for Saturday/Sunday if that’s your scheduled day and for any hours after 3pm if you work a late shift. I’m actually happy about this since I work a late shift now anyway

So just to be clear, the shift dif is only for the one day you work Saturday or Sunday and would be 10% for that day. 3 hours of shift dif a day if you are M-F correct? I was hoping they just add 10% to our salaries for working alternate schedules, but they always find a way to pay less. For customers and employees.

Severance is not an “Option” if you don’t like your new working hours. OP GROW UP

There are shift diff's. If you get a shift with a weekend day, you get 10% for that day (Saturday or Sunday). There is also a M-F 10-6:30 shift with 10% for the hours worked after 3:00pm (comes out to 3.5 hours of shift diff pay per day). Again, we only know of this for property VA wind/hail.

To the OP, Severance is not an option. If you don't like the shift changes, your move would be to quit. Quitting = no severance.

Are they going to give a shift dif?

The OP must be talking about property virtual wind/hail claims adjusters. He is correct about the two weekend schedules.

Hell, if this holds true for claims, I’ll be giving my two weeks a lot sooner than I thought I would be. For what they pay, if I’m going to be working weekends I can fold clothes at Costco and make the same amount of money.

Yes, which department are you in? I can see express having this but claims? Saturday duty has been around for many years but not the Tuesday through Thursday or whatever. also I agree with the below posters... f Allstate and work/life balance is a crock. I also really appreciate the whole health and wellness lie while they work us and stress us to ill health.. but hey.. get your steps in and..

Shift bidding is nothing new in many areas of Allstate. When I started in CCC in the mid 2000s they did shift bids for each half a year then it went to once a year. Back then is was half performance and half tenure. Gradually it went to pretty much all performance. That was pretty much my only motivation to exceed expectations so I didn't have to work weekends.

As for "Work/Life Balance" I put that into the same steaming crock of bullsh&t as "Transformative Growth" and "Continuous Improvement".

Is this for claims? Where was this said?

Our leaders just released a Saturday schedule where we rotate Saturday's for the first quarter. I don’t see them having people be Sunday-Thursday.

Also, f— allstate
