Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Train people and than ax them - WHY?

Some of those people quit other jobs to go to the UP, only to be told they are being laid off when their training is done. These are the same people that can’t go back to their old jobs. So do you think the reviews are still irrelevant? WHY train people, if all you’re going to do is lay them off?
====================================================================
I’m reading posts on this forum and this is part of someone’s comment that I particularly agree with, so I copied it to another thread. Unfortunately, I know one such person who left their old job because of UP and than got laid off shortly after the training was done. What a great way to mess up someone's life! Perhaps one of the biggest INJUSTICES to people that I've witnessed in this company.

Good questions. It’s the answers that are painful.

That hot dog guy is most likely a NCFO at NLR. The last location and so called “craft” the still has enough down time to complain 24/7.

In most cases, if they determine you don’t know the difference between then and than, you’re not worth any more investment. The same rationale applies to there, they’re and their.

This is why reviews are important people should know what they are getting into. This company and other RR’s has been exposed and will have a very hard time in the future hiring and retaining quality employees.

I'm assuming your fairly new and got furloughed, it's nothing new to railroads having mass hiring sessions and laying them off, best advice if your not vested into RR retirement, move on. The hire and layoff game was played long before PSR. Must of been train crew?
