Less than a week before Christmas and we are as dead as a doornail. If we are lucky we’ll get 2-3 customers every couple of hours. I don’t see us making sales anytime soon - or in the distant future. The hours still s—, but at least I’m using the extra time to look for something better. How is everyone else’s store doing so far?

So all the down votes are from the Framingham store? Checks out.
I went home early yesterday. Christmas Eve. We were so slow.
Leaving early on Christmas Eve, in retail.
UNPRECEDENTED.
I was on standby. If they needed me they’d call. Never got a call. Wasn’t surprised.

How are the stores doing ?
WORST Christmas season EVER !
In BN coffin.
Before the pandemic—for about a year prior to it—-I’d stroll out onto the retail floor & I’d be alarmed at the lack of customers in the Paramus store. I would chat with a few others who also wondered how long the store could stay open with the decrease in sales. We were all wondering if we’d get to keep our jobs.
So, whoever says that Paramus is doing great is probably an ASM or an SM, and they’re bragging on here to look like they have the best BN store. It’s total BS. Even as far as inventory was concerned, the store had carried much less. The entire upper floor was full of empty space except for some art & performing arts books.
The reality is that sales had been declining way before COVID. It’s just that COVID put the nails in Paramus’ coffin.
Next that crazy manager from the Framingham store will be saying how her store is doing the best and that her employees are the greatest. Who are they trying to fool?
Our Paramus Store in NJ is doing great. Sales are doing good and employees doing their jobs and selling. Everyone knows its a team effort and it is known by our customers how good a store wwe are in how and looks and how on the job our staff is. They laid off a couple of maintenance people, so some of the stuff they did we have to pick up on, but it isn't a big deal. If they have to save money to survive, this is understandable. It was great they asked people during furloughs back and shows how they know who are the best workers to keep the traditions alive. All signs look great for a very good Christmas season here.
I was in the Paramus store over the weekend. Embarrassingly slow. This is total BS.
Team Member is more like BIGGEST TEAM KISS A– and a HUGE LIAR. I work at Paramus too and it's not at all doing well.
Believe me, no one else believed the post.

Everyone in my store is freaking out. I certainly am not spending money like I normally would have. I'm saving because we know this is it, there's no way this company will survive this.
The tables are a mess. Bad selection, same selection over and over. I always told my mgr we needed to change endcaps & change some of the books on tables weekly. So, our regular customers don’t just walk by the stale tables. I was told that’s “not how it works”. If BN knew what customers wanted they’d still be making money ( even in a pandemic) instead of losing millions to Amazon.
I visited my local BN, and yeah, things are dismal. The new release PB table has "new" books from over a year ago. The BOGO1/2 table selection is always the same, there is never any variety. And I only counted 5 employees for a huge store. Just close BN and get out of our lives for good. You deserve to shutter. You will not be missed. As for the employees that are hanging on, there will be no saving grace. You will be fired/laid off. It is in your best interest to look for a new job today. And yeah, there are places that are hiring that pay more and offer full benefits, and 40+ hour work weeks. Don't say you weren't warned for the last year about BN closure when the hammer comes down. Down with BN, Daunt, Riggio.
Last Saturday before Christmas. So slow, we sent people home early.waiting for the “Christmas rush” and it never happened.
I've been looking for a good NON-retail job but nothing so far and with this new wave of Covid, it's even harder. I would love to quit on the spot and walk out, I'm so disgusted by management and the company!
Dead here too !
