Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

More changes coming

I've heard more changes are coming including additional reorganisations but nobody seems to have any details. It's not that I doubt we're looking at more of the same, it just be nice to know more than "somethings brewing." If anybody knows more, please be kind and share with the rest of us. Not sure how much more of this insecurity and stressing I can take.

Many middle mangers are just dispatchers. They self-constructed tons of paperwork to make themselves and their direct reports busy.

Reorganizations are a sad way of life at USBank.

Not much talent within TOS long-term upper management. Does USBank really need all of these management levels? Incompetent long term managers leading other incompetent managers. Frontline employees do not require numerous wasteful levels of management directing them.

The next Re-org needs to take out these long-term, incompetent managers. Targeting the useless middle level of managers that have been in place ridiculously long.

To quote someone on this thread: "The axe was dropped by a manager 4 levels up and my manager was not notified until later that day.".

Does USBank really need 5 levels of management? Each level being compensated handsomely. No. It's way past time to eliminate several of these levels. Bring the leaders of this company way closer to the talented frontline employees. Nothing would be lost and everyone could be way more nimble and effective.

I was there for more than 20 years. Over the past 10 years I had 4 Reassignments with completely new tasks and I mastered every one of them! A letter from Cecere came out late on October 1, 2020 about "difficult decisions." They usually cut management positions so I didn't think anything of it. The next day I received a meeting invite for 9:30 the next morning. BAM! "Your position has been eliminated." The axe was dropped by a manager 4 levels up and my manager was not notified until later that day. My advise is not to stress about what might happen but to prepare for the worst. Update your resume, take any Udemy classes that interest you and make a list of people with their contact information for references. If you are not selected for this go around, it will eventually be your turn. Best of luck.
