Promoting from within gone. Talent is outside Ford.

DETROIT — Moray Callum, the man in charge of crafting some of Ford Motor Co.'s most memorable vehicles the past two decades, will retire as its vice president of design effective May 1, the company said Monday.

Callum, 62, will be replaced by Anthony Lo, 56, who most recently served as vice president, exterior design, for Renault. Lo will join Ford on April 1 and have a one-month transition period before Callum departs

not disagreeing with your point Ford isn't growing much talent but design honchos are often brought in from the outside. J Mays brought from outside, Callum brought from outside etc. The design world is it's own special spatial space.69

There is no “talent” left at that level of Ford. The “talent” were considered pension obligations and walked out the door last year.
