Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Let’s be real now

Behavioral Health is the biggest money drain. You know it and I do too. Any employee there over 5 years in Behavioral health needs to be rotated out. All these layoffs in other departments are because we are bleeding out spending in area of Behavioral Health. 2021 was supposed to be the year we began AI and dumping employees out. We can hire new grads much lower and we have many over 5 year employees that need to go. We need young behavioral health staff who are less expensive. Not fun but Point blank its true

The same could be said for most departments here. We hired skilled and well compensated resources. We have/had a pay for performance culture that was designed to retain those resources so the $$ became $$$ and $$$$ resources after 5-10-15 years of service.

Now they’re trying to cut their cost per FTE so we’re dropping the GL on positions and hiring people who never would have been considered in the past. It will be cheap, it may be fast, but it won’t be good.

agree.. We dont need 5+ layers of bureaucratic nonsense. Maybe dont have kids then if you choose to get in debt and work in the Americas. were just hands, eyes, and legs to do the work. 30,40 years of spinning mindlessly, then retire, get sick and pass on. that's the cycle of the company

Maybe we don't need five layers of management in Behavioral Health. ....and it isn't about old how they are.

The poster states reality about the US empire. What was it abt reality that scared teammates so much? They hire cheap, they hire newbies, once you're old, you're likely gone–too high cost, health "care" insurance, you know too much etc..etc..and replaced by eager beavers who in debt and need to narcisstically "prove" themselves–.that's the us hamster wheel

Staffing by age? Oh that sounds like a solid strategy. Keep your head down, young buck and keep learning. It's free. Angst is not.

Mentoring is a key value in an aging population - Part time with benefits is a path, successful organizations take when they understand this.

let be real dumb a–. People need to eat and take care of their kids. That is with a job. You can help by leaving the company since that kind of attitude should not in any company.
