Maybe his background working recently with RISC-V is a clue. X86 architecture is on its last breathe.

Why are you guys still working at Intel if you hate it so much? Job market is good. Move on?

@4tqd+1983COkQ The entire downslope started with Paul. Passed on iPhone chip, let BK take over which was worst move ever

Where are the real leaders??
Let me count the ways.
Making an impact, getting to know which influential people are doing what, hosting conferences, building a multi-generational legacy, organising civil society, starting nonprofits, angel investing, spearheading major gifts from like-minded friends, attending inaugurations, speaking in memorials, reallocating investments or testing a new investment hypothesis, identifying which people can be counted on to do what, training thousands of people, building businesses, writing a books or position papers or articles, advising other leaders, and so on.

the cheese is finally on the table for PG
he can decides to move, change or even repackage it

PG is just here to fulfill his dream and take a big payout along the way.
Intel can only look to its past for any inspiration.

Only thing PG is exterminating is what little talent is left in the company.

PG could be rat king or EXTERMINATOR or both

intel is a sewer and PG is the new rat king

Sometimes the rats leave the ship because the new captain intends to clear out the rats. Have any high-level rats seen the writing on the wall and left voluntarily yet? That would make PG’s work easier. If the rats are still there clinging to Mother Ship Intel, it’ll make course correction a tougher slog.

What you are listing is DPG.
Not that it matters but data center group cannot stay as it is. Is run by true clowns, charlatans, weak people promoted by Diane and then Navin. Cloud solutions group, what a joke. A bunch of amateurish Raejeanne friends over promoted from the ALP program, And then the Xeon group ran by a Marcom person, who was in finance and then worked as diane’s TA - what credentials for our most critical business.

Navin is safe? You must be kidding. As a leader, Navin seems to focus on how to pose, posture as a leader. Even as a poser, he is second rate. I guess his job as Paul’s TA helped him learn how to pose. Completely empty. All his hires are a step below him, his old boy network and other posers...the leadership bench at intel cannot be described as thin, it is rotten. Where are the real leaders?? Posers, name droppers, d level talent

Tom L in IOTG is a proof that intel can find someone worse than Doug Davis. That was hard but we accomplished, what a loser.

I worry that with Sunil on board, we will not be able to get rid of Raja, the slide ware master.

There is so much to fix. Pat shipped have joined 2 years ago. He would have prevented all these incompetent charlatans promoting and rewarding each other. Michele EVP, Navin EVP, gB EVP crazy. The. Chief this, Chief that. Chief people officer, Chief supply offered. WTF. It is all thanks to Bob.

DCG? Who are the clowns?
Navin appears to be safe... lol

There are too many bad, incompetent execs at EVP, CVP, VP levels. Either doing things that they are not qualified for or doing things that provide zero or negative value to intel.

It will take time to clean up the mess. Probably, he will start with DCG since it is the most critical business for intel and is led by true clowns...

Intel management has been totally fubar going back at least 15 to 20 years. The only reason it has not been really exposed until now is the missteps of competition.

@1nfs+1983COkQ

So how could the last generation of leadership be considered leadership worthy if they didn’t develop a capable legion of people to lead once they left?

Take PTD leadership if good wound promote people of integrity, honor but look what happened.

I think being back a lot of the past as the prior poster noted fraught with risk. Two or three that are aligned and there for the same reason, I simply don’t believe anymore is useful or productive and would say a lot about PG and the likelihood of success.

It is interesting that the urgency is more than high and all we have are architecture and design and nothing on the 10/7/5nm side that caused the FUBAR. That in my mind says what the real strategy is regardless of what PG says ;)

PG will need to be extremely careful on rehires. Differentiating the ready/altruistic/capable from the opportunists and knuckleheads that got us into this mess is one aspect. Another is ensuring that the existing “problem executives” are terminated.

Its very telling that Intel has to reach into the past for leadership people.
It has not been capable of developing a new generation of leadership.

PG is already effectively onboard, he's just not the CEO until 02/15. He's already working in the background.

Don't think it was PG who hired Sunil. PG is not officially onboard until 2/15. Sunil is a BSwan hire, who has been looking for a design head since JK's resignation middle of last year. However, PG must have been informed of this and gave his approval. I think Intel has lost its cultural moorings and bringing back folks steeped in what made Intel originally successful is a positive.

Shenoy left for more than 4 years, and Keller jointed and left within 2.5 year. These two people would not have talked each other. Shenoy likely keeps hiring people he likes, and get rid of people he does not like. Shenoy is safer bet than Keller.

Time for a true story.....

Shenoy and JimmiK got into a shouting match. Jimmik was right, Shenoy realised and left with his face red.

He left as a loser and is back as a winner. Pat and other losers getting back together to make more money for themsleves.

Why wouldn’t he, got a boss he likes and getting a ton of money!

Got to ask is he going to be able to fix the amazing super fin which still suffers from low yield and poor performance?

Can he accelerate the already late 7nm process with some pixie dust ?

Or can have some secret new architecture o 14++++++++++++++++ to compete Epycally with AMD 7nm ?
