With IBM now the only manufacturer of LTO tape, should we be concerned about the GA date for LTO-9 slipping? Is this possibly an indicator of some sort of realignment/sale?

If you are really a mainframe sysprog you know how damn few of us are left. It is no surprise that it takes several IBM people to cover all we know and care about. If an IBM person knows it all they should be working in Poughkeepsie.
We are talking about service people here, people who actually get something done... Not phreaking sales people and their id–tic management!!
But there were already too many Z, P and storage employees - especially given the declining revenues. I'm sure a lot of the top accounts have Z and drag DS8* storage, and will need coverage of some sort, but Systems doesn't need to be as big moving forward. As a mainframe sysprog, I know the mainframe SW and HW, including the attached storage - its the nature of the job. One experienced Z rep should be able to sell me everything. I don't need a Z rep, a disk rep, a tape rep and a manager for each!
Yes, but you still have to serve at least the mainframe customers... Power and Storage will get jettisoned at some point.
So systems continues to lose money every quarter for how many years now, and instead of layoffs, they increase headcount by moving folk from GTS? What am I missing?
I heard a lot of GTS people moved to Systems... so, I would say it is very unlikely they will see anymore layoffs.
