If you were or are a Band 4 or E Band employee and you didn't donate a significant sum to the Honeywell International Political Action Committee (HIPAC), chances are you were part of a layoff, asked to find outside employment and given a target date to leave, or placed in the 9 block elbow during your annual review. You can see on the email chains who has been asked to donate to HIPAC. Compare those who contributed vs not contributed to the ones who are still with vs not still with Honeywell. Ask yourself if you want to work for a company that practices Pay To Play.

DA The Welfare Queen's ethical business strategy is to lay off thousands upon thousands of American employees, collect over 300 million taxpayer dollars in the process, sell off over half of owned real estate, spin off or sell as many business units as possible to push away liabilities, and make that stock price go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. How high will it go?

"Ethical. C'mon man. Just was part of RIF and the lousy HR did not provide me with any guidance regarding how to get in touch with someone who can help on my HR issue, outplacement service , etc...in the end a terrible send off after 20+ years due to age. @4sfv: Yea I remember that and Honeywell was contemptible in the way they handled it. However, it could be a "every cloud has a silver lining" life event for them in that they didn't begin their career with Honeywell and land a job with a respectable company. They likely dodged a bullet they didn't even know about.

The last post didn't work quite right. I'll try this again. Let's take another minute to remember the dozens of would-have-been entry level Honeywell engineers in Chicago who had their offers rescinded after moving to the city in 2020.

There is nothing in this thread that warrants a deletion. If indeed it does get deleted this is a clear suppression of dissenting opinions (i.e, free speech), a page from the playbook of authoritarian regimes. In fact the underlying cause of the wholesale disregard of ethical norms documented here is due to the fact that the governing structure of corporations is totalitarian. The only solution is some form of workplace democratization. Codetermination would be a good first step, ala Mitbestimmung in Germany.

Best thread all year.
Printed this one out.
Just in case the honeywell reputation managers start trying to get it deleted.
Next step is to post about 10000 links back to this thread everywhere the word ethics is mentioned.
that should get it into the search engines.

Ethical in this case is that auditors hadn’t been able to find any substantial offences other than trivial misdemeanours such as wrong claims, etc..Furthermore, numerous trainings on integrity and compliance are looked favourably by 3rd party auditors reducing their need to investigate deeper into the books.
Its only bad if it ends up in the news but if it doesn’t, it’ll just end up under the rug. What may look unethical to you might not be newsworthy in wall street to stop his cash cow from regurgitating its innards till it falls dead.

I went to the ethics hotline back in the early 2000s. There was a rollout of a third party tool that required customization at each site. An Aero contract firm (registered in the US but actually all Indian) would do work for one HON location, then charge the next location the same amount even though the main work was already done. They literally pretended to do th whole job at the next place. Some VP down by the airport interviewed me and then decided that this practice was OK–"if Honeywell wants to waste a few million, that's their decision.") A few months later, I got the worst review of my career. No raise. My next manager showed me the "evidence": they asked someone from this third party company to provide input to my review (!) and that reviewer wrote some feedback about me about "wasting" time doing "Personal investigations".

It took a couple years for me to get a better job and basically restore my name. I was lucky to have that new manager. He came from outside HON BTW.

After that, even when I saw unethical behavior, I did not report it.

There was a drowning fatality about 2 years ago in Honeywell Process Solutions. One man will never go home to his wife and son. You haven't heard about it because it was swept under the rug. There is little to no transparency about deaths on the job at Honeywell. It would have been ethical to mention his life and service during a town hall, but there was nothing done. This is a failure of moral leadership on so many levels.

DA signed this Statement on the Purpose of a Corporation declaration by the Business Roundtable in 2019. Actions speak louder than words and he clearly believes very little of this. Another blatant disregard of ethics.

DA on Honeywell International Q2 2020 Earnings Call on Jul 24, 2020, 8:30 a.m. ET.
"And people. So we're cutting in some areas because we have to", says the guy who makes over 20 million dollars a year at Honeywell, a so called ethical company that is given 345 million dollars in tax subsidies each year.
because we have to
because we have to
because we have to
because we have to
because we have to
because we have to
because we have to
It's been a rough go telling the family I was let go in DA's terms "because we have to". I've lost so much. So many others have lost so much. And his sentence keeps echoing in my head. Over 10,000 employees were let go in 2020 "because we have to". This ruined the futures of families, communities, states, children's opportunities, grandchildren's opportunities. I hope your stock price increase was worth the damage that can never ever be undone. One day like each one of us you will have the ultimate judgement on the choices you made and how you spent your earthly existence.

Look up Ethisphere. It's a for profit. Buy their consulting services and see if your company gets on their list.

In the January 2021 SPS townhall. John Waldron announced SPS hired 20,000 employee in 2020 and plans to hire 15,000 in 2021. From Macrotrends Honeywell as a whole employment went from 113,000 to 103,000 from 2019 to 2020. John can't be wrong...at least not in his mind. What about the USA RIF's on 1,895 or so in mid-2020.

What a joke. I did some quick research on the company that gave the glorious rating. It is a for profit company that isn't going to honestly assess any big company. They want to get paid so they aren't going to piss off any company like Honeywell. The scoring is based mostly on the information provided by the companies themselves. So Ethisphere is given information from Honeywell that supports great BS policies and procedures, but there is no or little independent validation. Anyone can do this. Where is the deep dive investigation that demonstrates a company is actually following their corporate polices and procedures related to each of the elements. Again, what about validating what Honeywell says they do with Customer ratings and Supplier and employee confidential feedback or input.

It's all camouflage. Big into age discriminating USA RIF's too. They look at tenure, pay and medical exposure being older in making decisions versus performance. As the song says "Fell like a number". Do you really see any Honeywell Operating system and standard work improvements ever since Dave Cote left. Squeezing the blood out of the company as if they were to sell it by making the financials looking falsely better that the true state of the fragmented infrastructure Darius has devolved it to.
