Is it possible that they did not have decency to give any notice for the stores closure? That's just terrible. It’s no surprise, but still... I still can’t help but wonder how they can be so cold towards workers who have obviously always been just consumer goods for them. This is a shame.
In the end, I am optimistic, I am sure that sooner or later we will all find new jobs, but it is a pity that we will have such an ugly memory of Fry’s.

It's not like Fry's had a choice with consignment. Vendors refused to extend them credit to keep inventory. They did consignment because there was no other way that vendors would ship to them. With this arrangement, vendors can simply take the property they own back in case of bankruptcy, instead of trying to get Fry's to pay the money they owe. If it hadn't been for consignment Fry's would have closed its doors long before and you would have been on unemployment long before now.
Frys went consignment to do what just happened. Shut down in a moments notice without owning any stock in the store.
Im sorry if no one told you this. I informed my workers. Most SM’s were being played by uppers, more specifically John/Randy Fry. Ken probably knew to some degree.
It is a d–k move, but businesses with owners that have no care to what they can legally do screw you if it saves them even s penny. Ive held the Frys brothers in very low opinion for a long time. Rich brats given life on a platter and clueless how to tun a business without Cathy.
Just how long did you expect them to wait? You should have seen the writing on the wall long before this. Can't keep the lights on with money you don't have.
Though I do feel sorry for the workers - is shouldn't have come as a surprise to any former employee that the last nail in the coffin could and world happen at anytime. Fry's had been having issue for years and I do mean years, way before Covid and even the Chinese Tariffs that they tried to blame stock issue on. The empty shelves major brands pulling their stock and customers asking if they were going out of business should have been clues enough to start looking for a job elsewhere.
