Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

How affordable is it to eliminate long-term positions now?

Seeing that 75% of the long-term associates have had their positions eliminated, have gone through a “restructure” or have had their hours changed so drastically they’ve been forced to leave the company ....... it’s no surprise that this is finally happening. Much more affordable to do it now than it would have been years ago when PTO was implemented and sick hours were discontinued.

I copied this from another thread here, +19AJy9cM, because I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately.

75 percent of positions eliminated? Hyperbole. You mean long timers held the most schedule friendly positions mon-fri 5-1pm. Well that was only 3 audit spots and 3 receiving spots. So a total of 6 out of 180 positions were eliminated, which is only 3%. You could bring up business office, but besides the team lead the rest worked c-appy schedules already. I have 20 years and most other long timers in those eliminated positions were stuck up lazy snots. They left because they couldn’t adapt to actually working.

Sam's still working on getting rid of long time associates. It's due to the business needs, you know!? That's their bs line, but we know better. It certainly is NOT worth a fight or my time! People left there are shameful OR are simply afraid to leave!

Leads that once worked 7am-3:30pm three days a week, 10am-6:30pm once and 1pm-9:30pm once now having to work either 4am-12:30pm or 3pm-11:30pm five days a week. Night crew associates no longer having an option to work 9pm-5:30am, but instead having to choose between the 4am shift or the 3pm shift. Previous floor associates that worked 10am-6:30pm now having to work either 4am or 3pm. Part time floor associates that were allowed to work around their school schedules and work 4pm-10pm now only having the option to work 11am-4:30pm. That’s just a small portion of schedule changes in the entire club that have happened over the past couple of years.

Walmart/Sam's don't have any good board members left. They are all political activists who have never created a job or actually worked as an hourly employee. The waltons lost control of Sams company years ago and only collect billions for their personal bank account. SAD......
