Yes, Lie on the form and commit a felony. UI benefits fraud. Good advice, fellas!

With issues like this I operate on a don’t ask, don’t tell basis.

Don’t tell them. I doubt it would affect anything anyway but if you start asking you might cause someone in some office to flip out and deny you your benefits.

I don’t think the Texas TWC is interested in the single payment for 2020 CIP bonus. They are interested in the regular salary you received over the past 3 or 4 quarters, that’s all. Salary determines the amount of UI benefits you are entitled to get. But, don’t sweat too much as Chevron salaries are usually high enough, even at a low pay grade, to get the maximum allowable weekly benefit. So don’t mention anything about the CIP bonus.

Bonus is not a severance payment so no need to declare in Texas. Plus it is payment for work done before you were laid off so no issue.

you 'took' EOI or where laid off? I'd think if voluntary EOI grabbing 'unemployment' doesn't seem to jive...

But the 2020 bonus will be paid out in 2021. Standard Operation Procedure.

Bonus was earned in 2020 not 2021. You are still unemployed.
