Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

What will Oracle's long-term future look like?

Do we even have one? I know some people will say Oracle is too big to fail, but it has happened before to bigger companies.

Which Tech Company could swallow ORCL in an acquisition? Is there any chance of that?

It would be like DEC. First small chunks of the company, in the form of organizations would get sold off, usually the ones that actually make money before it gets swallowed whole.

In the case of DEC, things like Networking, PC, and storage got sold off first before it could be ingested whole.

No, Oracle has no future. LE is determined to ride it all into the ground, all the while thinking that he is god's gift to the company.

What is long term in the IT industry, 5, 10 or more years?

My view is that the long term for Oracle is a smaller, cloud ERP firm.

People will continue to use the RDBMS for a long time but the next generation of companies won't be choosing it, they can get the features they need for a lot less cash elsewhere.

If a company isn't using the Oracle RDBMS, why would the choose Oracle Cloud, middleware, etc?

The best predictor of the long term health of Oracle as a major player in the industry is the db-engines website.

So that just leaves the ERP systems which are too much of a pain for large organizations to dump. There is little point with the huge costs of dumping EBS if you end up with SAP, which is just as bad, just in different ways.

Too big to fail is for banks that are being propped up by policy.
Has no application to a private company.

The biggest problem that O has is LE. He still thinks he is in charge and has the best ideas. Even when he has been so wrong about things in the past. Even when he has spent probably a billion trying to live forever. Even as he supported the most destructive presidential administration in US history. More like a Bond villain than a serious leader. If I was a stockholder, Id want to see the CEO succession plans.
