Please don't get me wrong, I think Cenovus could have managed the layoffs differently and much better, and I certainly think that they treated workers absolutely unfairly, but one thing is by no means clear to me. People are furious that the company has laid them off! Do people still think that a company is there to provide everyone with a lifelong job?

It was a requirement to speak Spanish fluently to be hired / promoted in Husky legacy E&PM. The gestapo that managed it recently celebrated receiving his PMP designation. This genius formed “functional” groups in Technical Services. Unfortunately these “ functional” groups remain.
Some were good but quite a few Husky managers were known for taking credit for others ideas and putting their friends and family in positions to benefit from the ideas of the team they lead. Nepotism anyone...
The packages were ok , could have been better though , but that being said I'm glad to be out and not worrying about what the bag licker managers are going to dream up next lol , good luck to the staff that doesn't get cut the rides going to be rough

I don't know about all Husky management being useless at their roles, but I do know that the safety department management are very very useless at their roles, particularly the VPs.
Confirm, husky managers are almost all completely useless at their role. Anybody that showed promise was swiftly dealt with to avoid having real competition
Nope. Just treat your time here at Cenovus as a pay check and then your expectations are fairly managed. Don’t buy into their corporate culture nonsense or teamwork or anything like that. I am here for the job until it’s not there and history has taught us that’s all we can expect from this company. Which is fair as long as we are all being honest and don’t pretend it’s anything more than that. PS Husky mgmt blows please leave.
Every single person I know that was laid off in January expressed the packages were very fair...counter to what the OP is saying.
